Whio Forever Education Resource (download)
‘Whio Forever’ is an integrated curriculum teaching resource with the whio/ blue duck as the real life context for learning. The resource covers multiple learning areas of the New Zealand Curriculum. It has been developed for primary school (Years 1-8) teachers.
The resource contains teaching and learning material to support a unit of work based on whio. It is grounded in Environmental Education for Sustainability (EEfS) themes and incorporates aspects of Te Ao Māori (a Māori worldview). The unit is based on an inquiry learning process, including student-centred, constructivist pedagogy.
This a group of fun whio learning resources aimed primarily at kids but great for adults too. They are all high resolution so print well and can be used for open days, classroom activities and put on the wall as infographic posters.
