Whio Forever Education Resource (download)

‘Whio Forever’ is an integrated curriculum teaching resource with the whio/ blue duck as the real life  context for learning. The resource covers multiple learning areas of the whio-resource-cover-180New Zealand Curriculum. It has been developed for primary school (Years 1-8) teachers.

The resource contains teaching and learning material to support a unit of work based on whio. It is grounded in Environmental Education for Sustainability (EEfS) themes and incorporates aspects of Te Ao Māori (a Māori worldview).  The unit is based on an inquiry learning process, including student-centred, constructivist pedagogy.
